I went to the Stetson's Giant Scale Rally and had a great time seeing some entertaining flying.

The weather wasn't so great on Saturday but Sunday was much better with sun and clouds.

There were lots of families with children in the spectator stands and by the looks on their excited faces there might be a few future pilots to give someone a run for their money.

The barbequed hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages went pretty fast and one of the club members won a new Focke-Wulf 190 kit.

I checked out the Arnprior Aero-Tow Event and was really impressed with the flying skills of the sailplane and tow plane pilots.

This was the first time for me seeing the sailplanes towed by another airplane instead of the winch or bungee cord method of launching sailplanes and the tow plane was a very fast and effective way of getting the large sailplanes in the air.

This was a two day event and although both days were overcast and windy in the morning at least there was no rain and the sun came out later on both days.

I attended the Stetson Flyers Heli Fun Fly and had a great time watching the expert helicopter pilots do their thing. This Fun Fly had everything from simple heli's to one powered by a JetCat turbine.

You could see anything from beginning pilots practicing their flying technique to advanced pilots doing inverted flight, "cutting the grass".

The Heli Fun Fly was sponsored by Discount Hobbies in Orleans and they donated various prizes from tools to a new JR radio.

I visited the Ottawa R/C Sailboat Club and took a few pictures of the sailboat races. The club is a very relaxed and informal affair with a great bunch of guys who have fun sailing their well designed sailboats.

The club meets every Tuesday and Friday from 11:30 am to the early afternoon at the Andrew Haydon Park pond in the west end of Ottawa.

If you want to see R/C power boats the Rideau Nautical Modellers are a different club that meet Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm approximately at the Andrew Haydon Park pond.
